Hi. I am a 40-something Black female who is childree/childless or whatever you prefer to call it. I do not hate kids, in fact I just adore babies, but never wanted kids of my own. I am also single and a Christian. I don’t believe in having out of wedlock children and I also don’t believe in premarital sex. I get criticized a lot for my beliefs, but this is what I have always felt was best for me. I did not want to bring a child in the world without being married and without adequate financial resources. I came across some childfree sites but some of them seem very anti-God and mean spirited towards people who have children. I feel that everyone should be respected for the choices that they make in their lives. Some childfree people complain about new mothers getting maternity leave and tax credits but they don’t realize that having a baby takes some toll on a woman’s body. They also fail to understand that raising children in today’s society is very expensive. I personally don’t have a problem with a woman taking some time off after giving birth or getting a tax credit for having dependent children.I am single and childfree and before I bought my condo 10 years ago, I hardly every got anything back from the government as far as taxes were concerned. I was never bitter or angry about it. Now that I am a homeowner, I do get some money back from the government, maybe not as much as a married couple with kids, but it’s better than nothing. We all need to be grateful for whatever God gives us in this life and not envy other people. I do not envy people with kids and I do not want the lifestyle that comes with raising children. I do admire those parents who do a good job in raising their kids.
